China warns Trump over North Korea: 'Don't stab us in the back'

On Monday, two US officials told Reuters that North Korea's latest test of an intercontinental ballistic missile has shown that Pyongyang now may be able to reach most of the continental United States. As Trump comes to realize China can not and will not resolve the North Korea issue for the US and its allies, he has become more critical of China in his tweets, and China appears to have had enough. Trump responded to the test by ripping China's leadership on Twitter.

"Taking out this outrage on China is clearly finding the wrong target", said Xinhua.

"What the peninsula needs is immediately stamping out the fire, not adding kindling or, even worse, pouring oil on the flames", Xinhua said.

"China can put sanctions on North Korea but then North Korea can trade with Mongolia or Russian Federation or other countries and circumvent the sanctions". There will be a war with North Korea over their missile program if they continue trying to hit America with an ICBM. "China and Russian Federation bear unique and special responsibility for this growing threat to regional and global stability", he said in a statement after the launch. "The U.S. government should consider the potential for a Chinese response". Washington has normally requested an emergency UN Security Council meeting following Pyongyang's nuclear and missile tests, but it appears to be taking a different course of action as USA ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley says Washington will not be requesting an emergency meeting of the council this time around. "At least I know China tried!" In April, Trump sent an "armada" to the region and has said that all "options are on the table", including military action against Pyongyang.

Now that friendly facade appears to be cracking.

Meanwhile, Trump was tweeting far more inflammatory rhetoric earlier this week. ".they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk".

The Chinese ambassador to the United Nations, Liu Jieyi, said on Monday it was up to the United States and North Korea to find a solution to the current standoff, not China.

The top Democrat in the U.S. Senate, Chuck Schumer, called on President Donald Trump Tuesday to block some Chinese investments in the United States in an effort to pressure China "to help rein in North Korea's threatening and destabilizing behavior".

(English/ Reuters1192) "No matter how capable China is, China's efforts will not yield practical results, because it depends on the two principal parties".

Li maintained that Beijing also opposed Pyongyang's nuclear and missile tests.
