Three Israelis reportedly killed, one wounded in West Bank stabbing attack

Palestinians say that East Jerusalem is their city, and they want it to be considered as the first city in the suggested two-state solution.

The measures angered Palestinians, who accuse Israel of trying to take control over a sacred place.

Three Israelis were stabbed to death in the West Bank settlement of Halamish hours after clashes on Friday, in an attack which has been directly linked to the Temple Mount/Haram al-Sharif crisis.

In anticipation of protests on Friday, Israeli police barred men under 50 from entering Jerusalem's Old City for prayers while all women were allowed in.

Jerusalem is a "red line" and Arabs and Muslims would not accept such violations by Israeli occupation forces, the pan-Arab organisation chief said in a separate statement Sunday.

Egypt, which now holds the Arab seat in the United Nations security council, urged Israel to stop violence against Palestinians in Al-Aqsa mosque. Israeli media reports said the attacker was shot but survived.

Tensions erupted in the occupied territories on July 14, when a deadly shooting took place outside Al-Aqsa compound.

Israel is beefing up its military presence in the West Bank following a stabbing attack which left three Israelis dead and one injured.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said Friday that three teens were shot and killed in clashes with security forces, in east Jerusalem and not in the area of the mosque, although circumstances remain unclear.

There have been clashes almost daily between Israeli police and protesters at the holy site, which is managed by a Jordanian trust but located on Israeli-administered territory.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas canceled scheduled security coordination meetings between Israeli and Palestinian officials.

Meanwhile, another group of protesters also gathered to condemn Israel's latest restrictions in Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and the latest killing in Northern Ireland's Londonderry city. The Palestinian was being treated in hospital.
