Trump publicly doubting that Russia meddled in election

Samuel Liles, DHS acting director of the Office of Intelligence and Analysis Cyber Division confirmed that although some voting systems were breached, the attacks did not affect voter tallies.

Trump also asked why the Obama administration "didn't stop" Russian Federation if it found the nation to be meddling in the 2016 election.

Johnson says Comey would not have made such a move lightly. But Trump has long vented at the FBI and about congressional investigations into Russian efforts to influence the election and whether anyone affiliated with his campaign colluded with the Kremlin.

In response to Trump's tweets, Adrienne Watson, the deputy communications director for the DNC, said the committee "has and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement on Russia's interference in our election".

The Democratic National Committee issued a statement labeling the tweetstorm an attempt to "distract" from the Senate GOP's health care bill, which was released shortly after.

"Former Homeland Security Advisor Jeh Johnson is latest top intelligence official to state there was no grand scheme between Trump & Russia", the president wrote on Twitter Thursday morning.

"For Jeh Johnson to say the Russians had successfully done something, he had to say he failed as Homeland Security chief", he said.

Johnson revealed that the DNC had declined an offer by the Department of Homeland Security to help them after their email servers had been hacked.

Trump has repeatedly denied any such conduct, and Time specified that none of its sources "said they had seen evidence that the stolen, private, data had actually made its way to the Trump campaign".

President Donald Trump thinks that Russian Federation was "probably" responsible election hacks that hurt his opponent, the White House said Thursday, he's just exhausted of Democrats using the illegal activity as a crutch for their electoral loss.

In turn, Samuel Liles, acting Director of the Cyber Division of the Department of Homeland Security, said that he expected Russian Federation to "continue to conduct operations of influence" in the United States.

Special counsel Robert Mueller has finished his meeting with leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee in a secure room in the Capitol.

Mark Warner, vice chairman of the intelligence committee, questioned Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Mike Haas about whether Wisconsin was one of the states that had been hacked.

"The FBI and the DNC had been in contact with each other months before about the intrusion, and the DNC did not feel it needed DHS's assistance at that time", Johnson added in his prepared remarks.

Hackers with ties to the Russian government successfully altered voter information stole thousands of voter records containing private information during attempts to meddle in the 2016 USA presidential election, Time reported. Last year Trump told Time Magazine that the hacking "could be Russian Federation".

"I can imagine that some do it deliberately, staging a chain of attacks in such a way as to cast Russia as the origin of such an attack", the Russian leader said last month.

But election organization officials criticized the decision as an overreach that could make elections less transparent.
