Jazz trade with Nuggets to get No. 13 pick Donovan Mitchell

The 6-foot-10 forward was the No.12 pick in the 2015 draft that came out of the University of Kentucky and is a traditional big man that is the flawless modern day power forward with the way he can shoot the ball.

A person with direct knowledge of the deal says the Utah Jazz traded the No. 24 pick and forward Trey Lyles to the Nuggets for Mitchell.

The Nuggets received Syracuse forward Tyler Lydon, taken with the No. 24 pick. He was named to the Wooden Award All-American Team, and First Team All-American by Sports Illustrated and the USBWA. Charlotte has reportedly locked in on Donovan Mitchell out of Louisville as its No. 11 selection. He also lived behind the arc with 2.4 treys per game. "I just wanted to work out with the Jazz", he said.

A total of 72 former Louisville players have been selected in the NBA Draft, including seven in the last five years. "I'd love to play with a star like that, I'd love to learn from a guy like him". Not many players created as much buzz as Mitchell has over the last month. He expects to play both guard positions and believes his versatility is a strength. In today's perimeter-oriented NBA, Mitchell will likely need to be a consistent threat from three-point range to see significant playing time right away.

Primarily a shooting guard, the Courier-Journal said he started at the point in certain situations in college, which could be necessary if the Jazz end up losing point guard George Hill in free agency this summer.

The No. 1 priority is to retain Hayward, who wants to win sooner than later.

Utah earned the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference playoffs and returned to the postseason for the first time since 2012 with a 51-31 record.
