Man, woman found dead with gunshot wounds on Chicago Skyway

It happened around four this morning at the 87th Street toll booth in the eastbound lanes headed toward Indiana. He says witnesses told investigators that the two were shouting at each other shortly before the woman was shot. The auto eventually crashed into a wall near the toll plaza.

Police say the shooting, heard around 4:10 a.m.in the 8800 block of the southbound expressway, appeared to be a murder-suicide.

Guglielmi said investigators believe that the two were married but they were continuing to try to verify their identities.

The Chicago Skyway heading to IN was shut down early Wednesday after a man and a woman were found fatally shot near an expressway tollbooth.

The man and woman were both pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The 30-year-old man got out of the still-moving vehicle and fired shots at the woman, striking her multiple times, police said.

The eastbound lanes of the Skyway were shut down for almost six hours as police investigated.

The Illinois Department of Transportation closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 east of the Dan Ryan Expressway for much of the morning because of the police activity.
