China's Xi says willing to help end rift with South Korea

CD REV, one of the rappers of the group, revealed that they received help from government officials to complete and promote the video on foreign websites.

The sharp decline in Chinese tourists for April was widely expected as Beijing has banned its travel agencies since March 15 from selling trips to Korea, in an apparent retaliation for Seoul's deployment of U.S. Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), despite its strong objection.

In the MV, the Chinese rappers speak up on behalf of their nation, and tell South Korea that "Your big brother is annoyed", "You're going too far''".

China's military has also conducted live fire drills and tested new weapons in response to THAAD's deployment.

On North Korea, which test-fired its latest ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan over the weekend, Abe said Japan, South Korea and the United States should increase pressure on the reclusive country.

Although the USA "acknowledges" China's opposition, Tillerson urged China to "address the threat that makes Thaad necessary".

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said the United States was working with China on a new sanctions resolution and warned that all countries must step up action against North Korea or face measures themselves.

The video - viewed by Wednesday more than 300,000 times on Facebook and Twitter and nearly 2.7 million times on the Chinese video-posting site Maiopai - represents the latest example of China's use of non-diplomatic channels to broadcast its displeasure with South Korea. China sees THAAD as a threat to the regional security balance.

Last year, there were reports that China had stopped giving approval to performers of Korean pop music, or "K-pop", to play shows in China, on the heels of Seoul signing the agreement to host THAAD.

South Korea's foreign ministry did not immediately respond to questions about the song, and the video did not appear to garner much attention on the country's social media platforms.

South Korean special envoy Lee Hae-chan, left, passes on a hand-written letter from South Korean President Moon Jae-in to Chinese President Xi Jinping during a meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Friday, M.

Wang said the official's tour reflected Moon's emphasis on China and his willingness to improve bilateral relations.
