New 12.9 Inch iPad Pro Hinted At In iOS 10.3.3 Beta

It's rumoured that a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro (putting it between the 9.7 and 12.9-inch models) could be unveiled at the WWDC.

Although Apple has remained silent on its plans, the company is rumored to be planning an iPad unveiling at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote on June 5. Although the company says that sales of the new laptops are robust, many professional users who wanted a new high-end laptop were disappointed.

The MacBook refresh would also come at an important time for the iPhone maker.

Citing supply chain sources, Taiwanese publication DigiTimes reported that Apple partners have further ramped up production of the 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2. However, the new iPad Pro Mini is not actually a rebrand of the iPad Mini. These are the MacBook Pro 2017 model allegedly coming with Intel Kaby Lake chips and another MacBook Air version which comes as a surprise to many.

From the perspective of stockholders, it shouldn't matter if Apple grows iPad revenue through unit growth or through average selling price growth, as long as Apple can get its iPad business back to revenue growth after multiple quarters of year-over-year declines.

Although none of the updates sound like especially major changes or renovations from the hardware perspective, it is still encouraging to see that Apple is finally taking some of the criticism of its latest MacBook Pro variants.

Apple last updated the 12-inch MacBook in the spring of 2016 with a rose gold color option, while the MacBook Air has not received a speed boost since 2015.

Finally, Apple may update its least expensive laptop, the MacBook Air, with a new processor as well. That said, there are speculations that the upcoming iPad Pro 2 will also be priced at around $1000.

Apple remains optimistic about the future of iPads, even though the iPad sales have been declining consistently for nearly three years. This tweak to Apple's mobile operating system formats storage differently to older tech, supporting different file structures and organises data differently.

Sources expect that the company will ship between 5-6 million units of the tablet this year.
