Spurs rout James Harden, Rockets 114-75 to win series

March 29 at San Antonio: Once again on the second night of a back-to-back set, this time after winning at Houston, the Warriors fell behind 15-0 in little more than four minutes and 33-17 after one quarter. In addition, the Spurs beat Houston by 39 points on the road without Kawhi Leonard, who missed the game due to an ankle injury.

The Leonard-less Spurs handed the Rockets a humiliating end to their surprise season on Thursday night at the Toyota Center, closing out the series with a 114-75 win that pits them against the vaunted Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals that will start on Sunday (Monday NZT).

The Houston Rockets had the league's 2017 coach of the year and a potential MVP candidate.

Houston forward and former Badger Sam Dekker played 10 minutes, scoring six points on 2-6 shooting while grabbing two rebounds.

Harden scored just 10 points on 2-of-11 shooting Thursday with the Rockets season on the line, to go with six turnovers. Without his physical presence, Aldridge went to work, scoring 10 points in the first quarter as the Spurs jumped to a 31-24 lead.

"I think we all made a decision to be aggressive, " Green said of Leonard's absence, "regardless of what was going to happen".

Aldridge posted an impressive double-double with 34 points and 12 rebounds to lead the way, as all five San Antonio starters scored in double figures in the close out game.

San Antonio advances to face a rested Golden State team in the Western Conference Finals. "Usually we get that in the first half".

"I really just didn't have a rhythm at the beginning of the game", said Harden, who averaged 28.5 points and 8.5 assists during the playoffs.

"I feel really bad for them that it ended this way", D'Antoni said, "because they did not deserve this". Trevor Ariza and Clint Capela were the main scorers for the Rockets and without Harden's numbers, it was hard for them to keep up. According to SportVU, the Spurs moved at an average of 3.94 miles per hour on defense in Game 6, 10 percent faster than they did in Game 5.

All of the pressure is on the Wizards tonight on the brink of elimination and Game 7, should they win, heading back to Boston.

"I don't know what it was", Harden said.

Meanwhile, after missing Game 6 against Houston, Leonard said he will be ready to play in Game 1 against the Warriors. LaMarcus Aldridge returned to form for at least one more game, continuing a career-long tradition of torching the Rockets in the playoffs. San Antonio received a double-double from Pau Gasol, too, as the Spurs piled up a staggering 32 assists against just seven turnovers and out-rebounded the Rockets by 23.
